Question
hi, I have a 3 months old white dane, he's deaf....which i knew of course when I took him... but for a week now we realized that he cannot see very well...for example if I have a biscuit in my hand he can only see it from a certain angle...otherwise he is adorable...like any other puppy...he learns very fast... he's already housebroken...but now that he has this eye problem and he's still young...I worry that he might get blind... so I want to start to train him consequently...and I would just like to know how ?! I know it's not really a simple question....besides with "touch" what can I do... oh and I have an other dog which helps a lot because the puppy follows him everywhere, when want to call the pup and he's not looking at me I just call the other one and they both come running.....if you could just give me some advice to what I should do.... or what I can do to make things easier for the three of us....thanks

Answer
Blindness can often go with deafness in white dogs.  Responsible breeders euthanaise at about two days.  I'm afraid you could well have a blind and deaf dog which will take very careful handling.

If you go to your local library they should be able to locate a specialist book for you.  The question is too long for an answer here.

One thing never let him off the lead away from your property.  Put double gates to all outside areas to prevent him wansering off and inhto the road.  If he causes an accident it will mean a law suit for you.
