chasing chickens

Question
My sheperd is 1 year old,Ive had him for 1 week now.Ive been working with him and he has already learnd to set. my problem is he chases our chickens,can you please help?

Hi Peggy, Unfortunately your dog is following his natural instincts.  He is a shepherd and they are bred to herd, so he is following his natural instincts.  Obedience training will help, but you can't override instinct.  You can try spraying him with a hose when he starts to chase your chickens to correct him.  Hope this helps,
