One ear isnt up on a 2yr old female GSD

Question
Hi Dawn,

I have a female GSD that will be two in December.  Her right ear is up all the time, her left ear is up about 75% of the time.  Is she past the point that taping or calcium supplements will help?  Since her ear seemd to be staying up longer and longer, we were reluctant to tape it -- hoping it would go up on it's own. (not to mention that it is kind of cute!)

Also, I saw your instructions for a foam hair roller and skin glue.  Where is skin glue purchased?  If my local pet store doesn't carry it, is there some other type of glue or tape that would work?

Thanks,
Elizabeth

Answer
Hi Elizabeth,  Unfortunately at this age she is past the time of being able to get the ear up permanently.  You have to do it before a year of age.  At a year, most cartlidge, bone etc. sets in the body and stays the way it is.  In some breeds, GSDs, Italian Greyhounds, Shelties etc they can have lazy ears that they can put up when they want but flop over when they are relaxed.  When they have lazy ears, you will tend to see them put the ears up when they are excited or alert to something.  Hope this helps,

Dawn
