Question
I have got a 15 week old puppy. Her mom was 85 lbs. her dad is from the Czec Republic an will fill out at about 120.My girl is skinny , Vet check all clear, high end Kibble. She has been putting on weight (2/3 of a lb. per day last month). The issue of skinny puppies has been addressed here several times but I have not seen whether the skinny puppy will fill out as an adult?
According to her genetic make-up my girl should be a nice sized female (like her mom) but looking at her suggests a skinny adult. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
A quote from the manual on raising puppies prepared by a large dog guide school:  ''Note: German Shepherd puppies typically will look very thin throughout puppy hood.''  I don't think there is anything else in the the whole book suggesting different care for the German Shepherds, Labs, Goldens, and other breeds they use.  They usually do fill out better as adults.  Just give her all she will eat.  Switching to an adult chow at 4 months delays reaching their adult size allowing more time to develop sturdy joints.
