My 6mth German Shepherd has Bitten

I have a 6month old white german shepherd bitch.  She is great with the family although she growls at strangers on their arrival and her heckles stand up on her back.  At first when taking her for a walk she would growl or bark at every1 she saw, this has stopped now and she is more sociable.  Today i had her out for a walk and on arrival back home i was talking to a neighbour when my dog pulled off the lead and has bitten a lady.  I am now concerned as to whether my dog will now have to be put down.  I took the lady into my house and cleaned her leg with savlon.  Although she has broken the skin the bite is not severe and is more like a graze.  I am not dismissing the bite in any way i am just concerned as to what is going to happen.

At least here, dogs aren't put down for the first bite.  This is a critical matter and you need more help than I can give you over the net.  

I would start with a check up at the vet.  I do hope the dog has had its rabies shot.  Talk to the vet about a private trainer or behaviorist.  I think all she needs is strong leadership.  Spaying her if not already would help too.
