puppy diarrhea

my daughter bought a german sheperd puppy 7 weeks old from someone selling on side of road for 150 dallars said it had shoots since being home it started having black diarrhea with a bad odor and she will eat it  and then throw it up later we are feeding her purina puppy chow which contains nutrients found in mother milk the sellers said they had been feeding her purina could she have worms? she is awful small you can feel her ribs she act ok plays eat and drink good

Hi,  If the puppy has been vaccinated, it will still need a series of 2 more shots to be fully covered for viruses.  The puppy probably does have worms and should be wormed twice.  You will get a terrible odor from worms as it is blood in the stool.  You will need to worm the puppy for roundworms at least twice two weeks apart to kill the larvae that will hatch inbetween the wormings.  Hope this helps.
