4 month old GSD Diahorrea

Question
Our 4 month old GSD has an obviously sensitive tummy. He contracted Giardia for which he has been treated but his poos are still either runny or too soft for my liking. He is on a sensitivity food but even that does not seem to firm him up. Is there a supplement I can give him orally?
He has good weight/height and attitude.
Thanks in advance

Answer
Have you had him rechecked to be sure he is parasite free? Ghiardia is terrible for being very difficult to get rid of. Plus there is also the possiblity of coccidia, or possibly worms. If those have been ruled out. I would suggest a dog food with no wheat, soy, corn or by products. Your dog will absorb more nutrition, less waste and therefore it'll be less costly in the end. Plus he could have a sensitivity to one of those ingredients. It's very common.
Meanwhile, put him on acidophulous supplements. You can use capsules, or plain all natural yogurt. Canned , unsweetened pumpkin (not the pie filling) is also really good. Rather than changing him from one food to the other, I would pull him off of commercial food for the moment. Give him plain.brown, rice cooked in unsalted chicken broth. Add some chopped carrots and green beans , a whole boiled egg, shell and all, plus the pumpkin, supplement, and the yogurt already mentioned. Once you have his poo beginning to firm up, gradually add in the dog food you plan to use. Preferably something 23 percent protein or under, and with no corn, soy, wheat or by products as already mentioned.
I bet in just a couple of weeks you have pretty poo :)
Good luck
