Question
What is Coccida in puppies?  I bought a puppy from a Breeder and it had this and round worms.
It took 2 weeks to rid of it.
I never heard of it and the Breeder said she never had it before.
I know she keeps her dogs wormed, clean and fed well, her pups sell and are beautiful.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Sid, Coccida is a parasite that comes from dirty soil, normally from ground that has had chickens or birds on it at some time.  It is one of the hardest things to get out of soil.  It also comes from very dirty environments (like puppy mills) but you stated the breeder's grounds were clean, then it is probably in the soil.  It is very common in the country and of course on farms.  It is very difficult to get rid of in puppies too.  The breeder will need to treat all her animals too as they will probably all have it too unless the puppy got it from your home.   Hope this helps,
