Female GSD

Question
We got a female,spayed, 1yr + gsd from a gs rescue 24hrs ago.  She seems to be a great dog but I am concerned that she has not pooped or peed for over 24hrs.  She is eating well and drinking water. Could this be due to the stress of leaving a boarding facility.  She does seem to be bonding w/ our family well.   Thank you

I am sure it is just the stress.  Give her a little more time.  Try walkingher on leash.  Sometimes they need the stimulation of exercise.  Some dogs are not used to elimination on leash.  Try leaving her outside by herself a little.  If you don't have a fenced yard, tether her.  It is Ok for short periods to eliminate.  Also, give her a chance on various surfaces.  Most dogs prefer grass, but some are trained to use gravel or pavement.  

When she does go, praise her and reward her with a treat.
