Cow Pie Stool

QUESTION: I have a 15 week old ALL black GSD. He is AKC registered and got him from a breeder. When i got him he had some bacteria in his stool and giardia. He was treated for all that which ended the dirrereha. Now he still after 2 months has cow pie stool. He is very healthy beautiful coat and very active. His vet said he should grow out of this and become to have normal stool. (That's not good enough answer for me. This is the list of meds he has been on and has not worked to firm him up at all. Diphenoxylate, Kaopectate, yogurt with live cultures, probiotics (ProZymes), Metronidazole, Clavomox and Erythomicin. OMG he has also been on a low residue diet and was on boiled chicken and rice for 3 weeks. He is currently on a holistic food (Avoderm Natural). Since his Giarda and bacteria I had his stool sent away and everything came back fine!! But yet still cow pie stool. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

ANSWER: No albon? What about safeguard? Five days of safe guard, metronidazole and ten days to two weeks of albon would be my advice. Continue with the yogurt, the prozyme and the kao. Add some canned pumpkin.
The food that you are feeding is very high in grain. Three different kinds of rice, plus oat bran and very little meat.
Try switching to a lower grain food, or even no grain. Wellness Natural Balance Flint River Evo Solid Gold Eagle Pack , Oriijen. Find a grain free that you like. He may have grain allergies and then again it could just be the very high amounts of grain in this particular food.

QUESTION: He was on Metronidazole for 3 weeks, he also was on food like Iams(Low Residue), Pro Plan Selects, and mixed the Royal Canine for german shepherds. safeguard is a dewormer for dogs over 6 months old. He does not have worms.

Safeguard (Panacur) can be safely used on puppies as young as two weeks. We have done it many times via our vet's advice. It is the primary dewormer that we use from two weeks on and with our pregnant girls. Five days also gets rid of ghiardia, not just worms

Iams and pro plan are not good foods for any breed of dog
