Answer
Unfortunately this is the way many pups get born and why it is so very important to get them spayed asap.  The mixed pups may face a life of peril as do many poor purebreds and mixes every day.  I am not preaching to you, but hope others who may read this think about getting their pets spayed and neutered.  Getting your male neutered would also have prevented this, make him healthier, and make him a better pet.  Are you sure she is pregnant?  Sometimes it takes several covers to breed although two should do it.  Did you continue to separate them?  You can still get her fixed now which may be cheaper than having a litter of pups but that is a personal choice.  Remember that pups need to go the vet within 48 hours of being born, get at least 2 or 3 wormings, and a couple of sets of shots - which adds up to $.  She will need vet visits during her pregnancy to monitor her progress, her health and the size of the pups.  Again, I am sorry but that is added expense too.  Your vet will let you know how many she/he thinks there are, the general size, and any complications.  Remember that giving birth to pups that are bigger than she is can be a problem so have her monitored by the vet.  You did not tell me her size or the male's size so it is hard for me to say.  First births are monitored and attended by breeders because there is always a danger involved of course.  So you will need to be there and be ready to get her to the vet asap if she has any complications.  Of course, things may go smoothly too!  I really hope you are able to place them in good, loving forever homes - it is hard to do with purebreds so I know it will be tough in this economy with these pups unless you have friends and family who really want them.   hope things work for you and for them.  I cannot imagine what they will look like but maybe they will be cute to find homes for - we can only hope.
