Question
Hi, I got my white boxer dog 3. Days ago,we believe she's come from a backgroud of violence and the way she's been trained was through violence, we have walked her on our field 3 times a day. So I should of thought she would be hungry, especially how skinny she is, can see her bones and her tummy is so tiny. Her old owners believed her to be around 16 months old, but everyone I see thinks she's had pups, so I don't have a clue! Help me please, I don't know how to meat her up, she get really floppy after a run and I just want to cry, I don't think she is used to been walked, and even fed its so sad. Thank you

Answer
1. Get her to your vet for a thorough check up. Since she has been abused, she probably has not been to a vet. There could be underlying health issues; thyroid disorder causing her weight loss, etc.

2. What are you feeding her? She needs a special diet right now to add calories which the vet can recommend. There is a tube of high-calorie paste that you can give her also.

3. She could have parasites that will drain her of her nutrients and weight, cause her to be tired, etc.

Get her to your vet. That is my strong recommendation. Let me know what the vet has discovered and get back to me.
