sore on boxers lip area

My boxer has a sore on her lip.  The vet said it was benign and just leave it alone as it doesn't bother her.  However, now it has started bleeding so there are trails of blood all over the house.  It looks like a crime scene.  The vet says there is little to be done, except a pretty major surgery.  She is older... we got her as a rescue so we think she is around 10-12 years old.  Any thoughts on what can be done?

Ten to twelve year old for a Boxer is extremely old. Their life span is average ten years.

I would NOT put her under for any type of surgery. She would not survive it.

It could be caused from allergy to plastic: if you are feeding her from plastic bowls.... if so, change to ceramic or stainless steel bowls...
