Question

Coco 13 weeks
Our puppy was a darker fawn when we got her on thanksgiving within a few weeks she has began to get lighter and lighter.  Her coat had some black or dark hair within the fawn color especially on her face and now her face along with the rest of her coat has a lot of white in it. Is this normal? Will her coat continue to get lighter? We are beginning to question if she is a pure breed.

Answer
Puppy coats do tend to get lighter with age, though generally not dramatically so.  White hair mixed in the base color (as opposed to separate areas of white markings) is not typical of a Boxer coat, but sometimes the fawn colored hairs can look very light.  From the photo, I would question Coco's purebred status based not only on her coat color, but also on her muzzle and lack of black mask.  I'm sure she'll bring you lots of love, regardless.
