Question
I have 2 boxers, 1 male and 1 female. I started noticing a wet spot on the couch after the female is laying there. I started paying closer attention wondering if it might be her licking or what. But what I found was that shes wetting uncontrollably. She is fixed never had puppies. She is the more nervous one and a little too eager to please. My male definitely is the more dominate one. She is otherwise in great health and is only 5 years old. My question is could this be a bladder problem or is this some sort of a mental issue?
Thanks for your time, Angie

Answer
I would tend to think she might have a bladder infection or she is in heat.

You should keep a calendar on her heat cycles: once every 5-6 months. Sometimes in pre-cycle there is a discharge, then bleeding, and discharge again.

It would probably be one or the other. I wouldn't imagine, even if she is the submissive one, and nervous, that it would suddenly cause the loss of bladder control. Only puppies get excited and loose bladder control.

I would take her to your vet for a check up to check for a urinary infection.

Does she drink more water than usual? Does she pee more than usual? These signs are symptoms of urinary infections and even, diabetes.

Ask your vet to check for both urinary infection and diabetes.

Let me know as I am always concerned and like to have follow ups and to further educate. Thanks.
