Question
Hi I have a 9 year old male boxer who has been neutered. He has always drank a lot of water and when he urinates he urinates for 4-5 mins I've timed him.crazy I know , I took him to the vet years back and she did an x-ray on him and She told me his spleen is on the opposite side of where it should be so his bladder is larger than normal probably a lot bigger than mine lol. My question is that he is peeing in his sleep and peeing a lot in his sleep. I take him out every couple hours I've even just started putting adult depends on him which he doesn't mind at all. I would like to know if I can give him something natural to help the poor guy to cut down on flooding my living room? Please help

Answer
Josh, I'm sorry, but actually, anything medications that could be given to "maybe" help, would be dangerous for him at his age.

The Depend underwear is what I would have recommended, and you have solved that yourself.

Since his spleen has caused his bladder to be larger than normal, and he is not young any longer where he can hold his urine for longer period of times, he pees when it is full, or even partially full.

Incontinence is extremely common with age; animals and human both.

The only other suggestion is cut off his water consumption at a certain time before retiring for the night.

I would not recommend reducing his water during the day because he would become dehydrated.

It is one of those things we must grin and bear for our older, senior companions.
