Bonding/Age/boxers with toddlers

Question
I am considering adopting a 6 month old nuetered, male Boxer from a local rescue group. The group states that he is good with children...
My question is at what age does a Boxer become and adult? Is 6 months still a good age for the Boxer to bond with my 2 year old children, me and my husband? Or is it best for me to get a small 8 week old puppy? I truly want to give this beautiful Boxer a home, because I love the breed and I really don't want to go through the whole puppy/housetraining/chewing thing. I have been told that getting a very young puppy (8 weeks) will ensure better bonding and the dog will grow up with my twins versus the older puppy (6 months) that already has a history that I may not know about.

Your opinion is valued

Answer
Hi Tonya,

6 months old should be fine.  To be truthful, unless you go to a reputable breeder, which most people don't...you're better off with this rescue dog.  A reputable breeder most likely wouldn't sell you one of their puppies with 2 small toddlers in the home.

I would never advise someone with toddlers to get an 8 week old puppy.  :)  A puppy bites, needs to be housetrained, socialized, etc.  Would you really have time for all of that?  There is much, much more to consider than just 'bonding'.  ;)

To answer your question...a Boxer becomes a mental adult at about 3 or 4 years of age.
