Question
my boxer pup Milo is 10 weeks old. since he is in a growing stage i want to give him solid food besides dog food. what kind of food should i feed him. i give him boiled chicken with bread some once every alternate day.

Answer
First, I recommend an all natural, high protein puppy food with NO corn and NO corn glutens which are fillers and most Boxers tend to be skin-allergic to those ingredients.

Go to your local pet store and read the labels on the puppy food brands that advertise all natural. Select the one that you can afford that has no corn and no corn gluten.

There is usually a canned, wet alternative too. You can add (mix) some into his dry puppy food once or twice a week for a nice variety.

Alternate chicken and lamb with rice and beef too, to give him variety which keeps his appetite flourishing.

Cooking chicken and rice is good.

Skin chicken (no bones or gristle) and cook it in a skillet with water and do not "brown" it, but be sure it is done.

Shred it, cut it, small pieces for the baby, (tiny) and add cooked rice.

You can cook and dice up carrots too. Mix it all together and add to his puppy food.

You can add 1 cup plain, whole unflavored yogurt to his puppy food too. This aids in a healthy digestive system with its good bacteria-- and they absolutely love it.

Peanut butter put inside a puppy KONG toy is a great treat and full of protein. A little piece of cheese fed to him as a behavior-training snack is too.

Bread has no benefits to him, although he might like it. He is tiny-- and can choke on it.

You must be cautious about the size of his foods; the cooked meals and treats.

Puppies have that tendency to scoff stuff down, sometimes without chewing because of the "litter-scuffle" because of competition to eat while the eating is good with siblings-- or else, starve. It's puppy mentality-- only the fittest survive...

So be cautious.

You can Google homemade dog recipes to cook up-- but remember, he is like a newborn baby.
