boxers aggression towards cats

Question
I have a three year old boxer (Petunuia) who is the most gentle, loving dog.
However, she does not like cats. We have a vinyl fence around our yard but
have gotten a few cats in our yard. Pentunia is relentless and attacks the cats.
We have found 2 dead cats and I intervened in an attack just the other day. I
feel horrible about the situation. Since we have had her we have tried to
socialize her as much as we can. She is amazing around other dogs (both
sexes), people, and kids of all ages. It worries me that she so aggressive
towards cats. People keep telling me that it is her natural instinct to attack.
Should I be concerned? Thank you!

Answer
Attacking cats is her natural instinct. Dogs and cats do not mix.

The only way a dog will co-exit with a cat is if the dog was raised with cats as a puppy.

Then to him, the cat is just a feline sibling.

However, not being raised with cats, Petunia has no connection, no feline sibling(s) and will react naturally-- attack.

It is nothing to worry about, although upsetting if a cat jumps your fence and comes in your yard, but you are not responsible, and nether is Petunia-- the cat is in HER yard.

She is a great Boxer in every other way, so maybe put a sign "Beware of Dog" on your fence to protect your legal rights-- a cat, or any animal that intrudes into your yard is not your liability.
