6 Year old Boxer

Question
After my 10 year old boxer past on, the 6 year old gain a lot of weight. I just got a two month old White female boxer, and they are playing again.  My question is, what should i feed the 6 year old.  She was eating Nutro lite due to the 10 year old being sick, then i change it to Eukanuba for boxers (She began to gain weight) Now i bought Diamond Natural Lamb and Rice Lite.  Is that ok, also the little white one was eating Eukanuba, and i just change her to Diamond also.  Sorry one more thing.  Boxers are not large breed correct?

Thanks for what you do.

Answer
You are correct that Boxers are not a large breed, though for some reason many dog food manufacturers consider any breed over 50 lbs. adult weight to be "large".  It would certainly be easier to have both dogs eating the same food, but I wouldn't think a Lite formula would have enough protein and fat for a growing puppy.  You might consider putting them both on a good-quality, all-life-stages food and just adjust the amount you feed your older girl - canned pumpkin or no-salt-added green beans can add bulk without adding too many calories, you can replace up to 1/4 cup of her meal with these.  The fact that she's active again should help get the weight off, as well.

There is a good site that reviews various dog foods here:

Good luck!
