Urination on his sleeping bed

Question
Hi Jannie, I have another question about our almost 1 year old boxer boy Tyson. Our dog is crate trained and housebroken. Doesnt pee or poo at all in the house. Well yesterday on Memorial day. We went to a party with another boxer dog that was present all they did was play for 3 hours straight. Water was present at all times for the dog. Tyson was drinking alot of water and so was the other boxer. Well he had to go pee a couple of times. So this morning I wake up at 6:30 to see my dog looking at me then peeing on our carpet in our bed room. I told him no and then he went back to his sleeping bed we have layed out for him in our room and then he urinated on his bed. I told him no! thats bad! and took his face and put it to his nose and said no! then took him to the front yard to pee. My question is why did he do this? Is it because the day before he drank so much water he couldnt hold it? I thought most of the water he drank he already urinated out of his system that night. He started drinking alot of water around 6pm that night. He was drinking alot of water! I mean he urinated a couple of times in my friends back yard. Then once before we loaded him in the car. Then when we got him he urinated. Then when i took him for his night walk around 10pm he uriniated again. I hope this isnt a issue. Do you think it was because he drank so much water? and how long does it take to go through their system? Thanks so much for your insight.

Answer
Chris, it was the water.

He got too hot playing with the other Boxer (and Boxers can play!)...

Then he drank water, water, water, trying to cool himself and hydrate himself.

The heat, being too hot, kept the water retained in his system longer than normal.

The peeing a few times at your friends and after getting home that night wasn't sufficient to get all the water out that was still left in his stomach and system.

The system takes what it needs and eliminates the rest later. So the water that wasn't absorbed and utilized had to come out.

I wouldn't worry about it right now. I'm sure it's already resolved itself.

If Tyson continues to pee inside (as I remember he did in your other question) then take him to the vet and voice the concern.

He could have a bladder/urinary infection which will cause excessive urination.

Let me know.
