Question
I am bringing my boxer puppy home Saturday.  What is the best thing for me to feed him now, and as a grows older.  I have read website that say the can give them to much nutrients (dont get that) to not enough nutrients.  I thought Iams was a good quality food and planned on feeding him that, but then read it was full of fillers. What about Neutro?  My sister feeds that to her dog?

Thanks,

Confused

Answer
The most important thing to do is to feed a good quality puppy food. Talk to your breeder and find out what he's on right now. The food he's on now may be perfectly fine. You can give too much of a good thing. It can cause problems with bones, growing too fast, ect. Just like a low quality food can cause poor growth, coat. Neutro is a good dog food. What works for one dog may not work for another one. Keep an eye out for a nice coat, generally a healthy puppy and you know you've found the right food.

Here are some web sites that may help you figure out what ingredient is what. There's way too much to list here, and I'm sure I'd forget some!

http://www.usapetstoday.com/petfoodcomparisons.htm?referrer=Google&keyword=compa... This is a good one. It compares popular higher quality foods to each other, and help you to determin what ingredients you should look for.
