Question
hi there i have gotten myself a white 6 weeks old boxer.
from doing some research on white boxers i learnt that lots of people talk about the dogs getting blind and deaf from 6 weeks old,is not that i would still want the dog is i would just like to know if it is true as i really got attached to the puppy and would still love him no matter what.could you please inform me what i should look out for as far as watching him from my own point of view he still comes when i call him and runs after me trying to bite my shoe laces.could you also tell me what is the best way in carring for him.

Answer
White Boxers can be born blind and deaf, or just blind, or just deaf. They can become blind or deaf later, or both.

At 6 weeks, it's safe so far if he sees and hears you. But I would continue watching for symptoms when he doesn't react to your voice, or runs into things (other than puppy clumsiness) and whimpers a lot because of his impending blindness. May eye contact with him often, offer him a Nyla Bone to see if he takes it, thus meaning he can still see.

Take him to your vet more often than a colored Boxer, for check ups and be sure to get a Boxer-savvy vet that is familiar with the breed and white Boxers especially.

Sounds like you haven't owned a Boxer before, and I highly suggest that you educate yourself quickly, as there are medicines that can kill a Boxer, and special health requirements, and foods, as they are prone to allergies like corn and junk in dog food. Get an all natural puppy food without corn and bi-products, and your expand his life expectancy.
