QUESTION: Hello, my girlfriend got me a puppy as a gift in July, they told her it was a pure-bred boxer and the parents were on site i only got to see them on pictures. I have been a bit doubtful that it is pure-bred but then again i don't know much about the breed it could have just been badly bred, I love my dog and whether he is pure-bred or not nothing will change I would just like to know what do you think is he or is he not?

ANSWER: Neither Duke or his mother is Boxer. They are American Pit Bull.

Take him to your vet for his check-up and vaccinations, etc., and ask the vet.

Sometimes people confuse the breeds, but they are definitely American Pit Bull-- NOT Boxer.

QUESTION: Hello, thanks for responding back to my last question. As Duke has been growing up he is starting to get more of the boxer-ish look and I would like your opinion once again. He has a lean body just like a boxers the only think that kinda seems to be a bit out of place is his nose being a bit too long but not much, what do you think?

Answer
He probably is half Boxer and half Pit Bull, or if his parents are Boxer, there is a Pit Bull in the lineage and came through with Duke.

It is difficult to say by the pictures. Most Boxer puppies have an excessive droopy jowl and Duke does not. His jaw and mouth are cleanly tighter than floppy and droopy.

I still recommend taking him to your vet. This should have been done already before now. He must have his required rabies vaccination, and needs the other vaccinations as well as Parvo vaccination. When you go to get his check-up and vaccinations, the vet can tell you for sure.

I would also ask to see any AKC papers on the parents. Take pictures of BOTH parents to send me and to give to your vet to look at as well.
