Questionhi..
i just adopted a 4 year old brindle boxer from a pet organization..i wanted to know if she can get pregnant at this age and have puppies..she seems to be in good health
thanks
AnswerI wouldn't jump on breeding her since you just adopted her and don't know everything about her emotional and physical state yet.
I recommend having her for 5-6 months and having a vet check her a few times before making that decision.
Ask the vet if she's already had a litter before- he or she can tell.
Her health needs to be excellent, and you won't know without some time and vet check ups. You know nothing about her parents and their health history; genetics, etc. to know if there is thyroid disorders, hip dyspepsia, cancer, allergies, etc.
When you find out all that you can, and a vet clears her for breeding, as long as her heats are regular- you can breed her.
However, I recommend never breeding past 4-5 years old- and she will be that old once time has past and vet checkups clear her. So your window is narrow if non-existent.
I would NOT breed her.
