My Bostons ears...

Question
Hi Lisa,

My Boston Bunnie is about to turn a year old and she has no hair at the base of the back of her ears (about a quarter sized patch on each ear). Her hair also seems thin around the base of the front of her ear...

I'm not sure if her hair has always been like this or if it has just been this way for the past couple months. She doesn't seem to be itchy (no scrathing) and her ears don't appear to be inflamed or scabby. If this info is of any importance, I feed her wellness Sweet Potato and Fish food and give her Greenies for treats.

Is this noral or cause for concern?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Alot,

Sean

P.S. I know Bostons are allergy prone so I have been careful about what I have been feeding her but is it ok to give her the occasional table scrap? And are their specific foods I should never give her (other than chocolate of course)?

Answer
Hi Sean....
You are taking very good care of your Boston. Not to worry about the hair. Thin hair around the ears and eyes is a normal trait for the breed. Some though not all are like this. Regarding table scraps, other than once you start Bunnie will love you more and never let you rest when you eat....I would not give her any thing that contains yeast...like bread products, because that will make her gassy. Also I would refrain from more than the occassional tast of anything dairy because too much dairy will give her diarreaha.
If you ever want to alternate her dog food for a different tast now and then, I would use the lamb and rice.
Best to you...Lisa
