9 week old BT seems very defiant

Question
Hi

We brought home our sweet baby about 10 days ago. I stayed home from work the first week to help little Enzo get acclimated. I've seemed to make great strides in his training- he sits on command and was very good about eliminating on command, notice I said "was" however :-(.

This past Monday, I had to go back to work but I arranged for someone to come mid day to feed him and play with him. He will be set up like that 3 days a week and I'll be home with him 4 days a week. We have a metal play pen set up with a crate (door left open) for sleeping and a pee pee pad. First off, he screams bloody murder when left in the pen- I've tried everything I've read... And he still hates it. The main issue I have is his defiance to eliminate. He'll eat and won't go poop for hours.  In fact, ever since my first day back to work, he refuses to "go pee" (our command) on his pad at all. The minute I look away, he pees on the floor. Yesterday, I was told he pooped (on the floor) around 2pm and didn't go again all night even after dinner. I struggled all evening until bedtime... And at 5am I went to check on him in his area, I saw that he had pooped in the middle of the night and had eaten it!!

He'd never peed on my bed or on the sofa where he is allowed to play and nap, but yesterday he peed on both. He was do great even on his first day with us- signaling when he had to go but it seems he has deeply regressed! The only thing I can attribute this to is him reacting to me leaving him to go to work. There's nothing I can do however, which I'd why I'm paying someone I trust to come check on him when I'm not here. This little guy can hold his bowels for hours and hours... So odd!!

PLEASE HELP!

Answer
Hi Perri ;  You are doing a great job.  Just remember this is a baby and it takes time.  Yes, going back to work may have something to do with it.  He was just moved away from his Mom and siblings so he is stressed.  Can you put music tape on when you are gone to work?
How about a rain machine?   I love mine and have been sleeping to the rain sound for about 20 years now.  It may be very soothing to play the rain or one of the other sounds .

I don't have anything to add to your program at this time;  Just keep it up and he will catch on in time.

Best of luck to you
