Vomits after drinking water

Question
I have a 4 month old BT that seems to eat and drink his food like he is late for work! I read the other posting about the vomiting after haer BT eats...however my BT vomits after drinking water. I have tried elevating his water, bottled, tap, distilled and he can not hold it down. Forunately he is not dehydrated nor underweight however the vomiting is a great concern to me. I hear that BT are known for oversize uvula but in order for me to r/o that symptom would be by sedation. Any recommendations or information on this problem? He can keep down the food...just not the water. Also, any little change throws a loophole in my BT's routine. He was doing GREAT w house breaking...my family came and left and now he is a mess!

Answer
Hello. The only thing I can think of for it being is an enlongated soft palate your right the dog needs to be sedated for this. When my boston was 8 weeks old her homcomnig age...she had stenic nares...I really didn't know otherwise I would have found a better breeder but I learned this when she was 9 weeks old during her first visit to the vets with me and I was told then...I thought the snorting and grunting was normal but it was very not normal bostons weren't supposed to snore and snort that much and well she had the surgery at 10 weeks of age with great results she wnet from lazy sad puppy with snot bubbles around her nose to running bouncing bundle of high speed tuxedo! but she does still snore/snort/grunt but can Breath now!. She has a slightly enlongated soft palate my vet checked when she was udner for the stenic nare correctment...but she never showed signs of it bothering her. Hanah my boston terrier was a very pukey puppy she threw up alot compared to my other dogs when they were puppies but I considered it normal because of the flater muzzle...she would vomit bile...foamy white or yellow slime quite offen I looked into it is a symptom of an enlongated soft palate problem...but after she was 6+ months old she just got better and never threw up daily again....maybe it was just she had a sensitive stomach or is just comman to the breed as puppies I'm not sure. The most common symptoms of enlongated soft palate are vomiting after drinking or eatting, loud  sounds while breathing mostly when the dog breaths in,  I'll offer you a link to some basic information on the subject: http://www.bulldoginformation.com/elongated-soft-palate.html

But having said this your puppy may just be vomiting because he is a puppy puppies haev sensitive stomachs...offen eat and drink too fast and tend to vomit bile fluid/froth often. Feel free to email again anytime I'm always here to offer advice. I wish you luck with your baby boy.
