House Training by Boston

Question
I have a puppy boston terrier. He just turned 14 weeks. We got him when he was 8 weeks old.  He was beginning to do good with the house training. We take him  out religiously at the same times everyday (after eating, sleeping, playing, etc). We reward him with a treat and he seemed to be getting it about two weeks ago. He would whine if he needed to go out and I never worried about him messing in the house. Now in the last two weeks he has gone backwards and is actually worse than he ever was.  We take him out and he will come in and poop, or we take him out to poop, he does and then will go 30 minutes later again in the house.  We keep a very close eye on him, but he always does it as soon as you turn your back.  Also he soils in his crate constantly even though we were feeding him in there.  We have the bell on the door since he arrived but he wants nothing to do with it. He doesn't pee in the house though. We need help!

Answer
Hello, this can be tricky to correct....sometimes one takes the puppy out and waits for 10 to 20 minutes for the puppy to go while hes just walking around chewing leaves/twigs ect ect and when we get fed up bring the puppy in Then the puppy goes in the house....I've experiacned this with my jack russell terrier wehn he was a pup and my boston terrier when she was a younger pup. Wait a few minutes after meals if need be but never wait long as a nap or the puppy will surely soil the house, if he just pees when you take him out and you know he should poop becsue hes eaten wait a minute or two then if he is just going off palying bring him in...do not taek your eyes off of him for one minute in another 5 miutes try him out again when he does poop call him over scratch his ears/belly whatever he likes and tell him hes a good boy and bring him in...its a trail and error game that istn very fun for the owner to play and it does take more patciance and time to fix this then it took to house train him to start....also 1 4 weeks old is very young to be fully potty trained dont expect there to be no indoor accidents until he is 5/6 months old....my boston was potty trained perfectly by 5 months....your little guy is well on his way. Peeing in the crate...does he pee when you leave him there and go out? My oston and jack russell and labrador retreiver ....when they were all puppies would do this....if your a few minutes late there is always going to be pee or worse in the crate....think nothing of it chagne the bedding and wipe out the crate and replace with new bedding the puppy will grow out of this dont worry as I said my little girl was potty trained at 5 months and after that age never pottyed in her crate but a 5 month old can only hold for 5 hours and 6 month old 6 hours ect ect....thats not to intend a 12 month old can hold it for 12 hours its ment that after 7/8 months the puppy should be able to hold it for an eight hour workshift thou a noon pee break is always very nice. I've never tryed bells or strings and to this day 'Hannah' doesnt ask to go out she will jsut stop playing and walk away or stand near the door she never makes a peep and you know she needs to go out lol at lest your little guy has asked a few times to go out. But you seem to be doing everything right if you try my methods they should work very well for you as they have worked great for me with potty training my three dogs when they were puppies. Best of luck.
