Question
I was housesitting my mothers male who is only 8 months old and I came around a corner and he was hooked up to my 3 year old female. i never had intentions of ever breeding my Sophie but now she is pregnant and I have been reading articles about what to expect but I am concerned. I grew up with boston terriers but never had any puppies. I don't have e alot of funds for this but I know there is a chance of c-section. Is there a good chance that a good healthy 20 lb. female could have them vaginally? I am hoping we can achieve that. What should i be giving her for vitamins or food? anything special for pregnancy? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello Casey - Well, what is done is done...right?  As for the c-section situation, yes, this is very common for a boston.  The size of the dog's head is the problem.  To move thru the birth canal the heads are odd shaped and larger than many other breeds.  Your vet can measure her and take an x-ray.  This will help to determine if she can deliver without a C-section.  If she does need a C-section your vet may work out a payment plan with you.  YOU won't know unless you ask the vet.

As for good feeding and supplements - NuVET plus is great for moms and for the pups too.  They will get the NuVET supplement thru the mom's milk and then, when they are 10 weeks or older, you can give them NuVET powder mixed into the food.
