Question
I have grown up around large breeds all my life which range from Sheep dogs to German Shepherds. I just moved in with my girlfriend and she has 2 BT's,,, 8 yr old male and a 4 yr old femail. They really are cute but they drive me crazy. Here is my problems:

1. They both pee to mark territoy in the house and they are both fixed. This is a new apartment and I don't know what else to do to handle this. They are crated together during the day. I never leave the unsupervised when they are out, but they just can do a fly by pee at anytime. Even after going poddy outside. They even go to the door and bark when they have to go outside. I just don't get it.

2. When they get food or water they go at it like they haven't had anything in days. I can see their bellies fill up with air. Then guess what happens... they yack. They currently eat Eukenuba. They have seperate bowls but share a water dish. I have tried different bottled water too.

Any advise is greatly appreciated. They are so cute and very affectionate dogs, but I just need to be educated on how to handle this.

Answer
Hi Jason - I understand...
I wonder if another dog was in that apartment and marked???
Even if the rug was washed the dogs can Still smell the old markings or old accidents.
That would be the only reason for this behavior.
You can get the Male Wrap for the boy... Works great and he won't like getting himself wet... You place a female maxi pad into his male wrap...here is a photo of a male wrap:

If you can figure out that there was another dog, at one time in this apartment.... then get the carpet cleaned and tell the company about your problem.  The carpet companies have special products for this.  Also, wash down the walls and doors with some kind of special product for this.....

As for the drinking and eating.  Feed them on raised feeding dishes.  This will help a bunch - here is a link/ photo of what I mean:

If you would like to talk about foods and supplements there are better choices than Eukenuba.  ( too many fillers)...
Let me know if you want more info on vitamins and feeding....?
