White bump on face

Question
My 10 month old Boston Terrier has a white, flaky bumb on her face right below her right eye.  A few months ago she has a red, shiny bump around the same area. When we took her to the vet they said it was a staph infection, but this bump looks different.  I was wondering if you had any idea what the bump could be, and what the cause of it might be?

Hi Erin.  You Boston could be suffering from allergies.  I get a lot of e-mails this time a year about dogs and bumps.  Some people try giving their dogs human benedryl, but I suggest that you contact your vet to get the proper dosage (based upon the weight of your dog) before you try any medications.

If it's only one isolated bump, and if it doesn't appear to bother her, I would just keep an eye on it and possibly it will clear up on its own.
