QuestionCAn a nuetered cat produce milk for a kitten. I have a 1yr old female cat and my daughter brought home a male kitten and I always see him drinking or sucking milk from my female is that ok and normal or even healthy. Confused Parent :)
AnswerA spayed female can produce milk if her teats are stimulated long enough, but it's highly unlikely.
Chances are the kitten is engaging in non-nutritive suckling. He's gaining no nutrition from it but is getting the emotional satisfaction that kittens crave. This behavior usually is seen in kittens who were weaned too abruptly, and the kitten usually outgrows it by two years of age at the oldest. As long as your female doesn't mind, there's no need to separate them.
