Question
hello sir, may i know why do few cats run away from home. not few, i observed many cats? are they less loyal than dogs. actually, i want to keep a cat at my stable as a companian, will this idea help me out??? do cats mix up with horses???? (generally trainers keep a cat in the stable to get rid of rats and other rodents). is there any way to make them loyal and  stay life long????

Answer
Rohit,

Cats tend to be independent but are very territorial. Thus, it is difficult to "make" a cat do anything, unless the cat thinks it his his/her idea!!!!! They tend to be more loyal to place than people. So, cats that grow up in an area tend to stay close by. They do not look at people the same way dogs do and loyalty is a term I tend not to use with cats. They can be very affectionate and some do get attached to people, but it depends on the individual cat.

Cats and horses do get on well together. However, cats have to learn to stay away from the hooves so they do not get stepped on. Although some do OK, cats not raised in a barn often do get stepped on.

One way to keep a cat from wandering far and wide is to get the cat neutered or spayed. Fixed cats tend to stay closer to home and are not driven to wander because of their hormones.

Best regards... Norm.
