restless kitty

My 5 month old kitten has been acting strangely lately. she will lay on the ground and meow constantly in a low, growl type meow. she has been more of a cuttlebug lately and she frequently cries out when we're sleeping. when shes on the floor she rolls over a lot and instead of standing up and walking she drags herself along by the front paws. she seems like shes in pain and doesn't play with our other female cat as much(shes 6 months). when i stroke her from head to tail she has been pulling away when i get close to the base of her tail. I'm getting worried and wondering if i should take her in to see our vet. please help. thank you.

Hi Marshall,

Sounds to me your little kitty might be going into heat. Some cats can go into heat a little bit earlier than others. I would take her to the vet to have her checked out. Also some cats as they mature don't like being touched by the base of the tail. It is just something that develops. I have 3 here who also don't like that and will swat at you if you pet them there. Good luck with your little one. And let me know what the vet says if you take her there.
