Question
QUESTION: Hi. A few days ago a friend of mine found 4 baby kittens and we are sure thr mother is not around. the humane society was going to put them down so we kept them. i have the only girl out of the three. we found them wednesday and thursday my little girl pooed. it was a good color and texture. her pee was dark yellow but i expected that from not nursing. now she eats like a piglet and im actually limiting her now because she was eating a good .5 oz every 4hrs. so now she is getting that about 4 times daily. but she has not pooped since thursday. i have tried the pumpkin, drops of veggie oil in her bottles, etc. and she is stimulated every meal and when she wakes up. so yesterday (7/16) i finally caved and gave her an enema. the first time the water wouldnt go in. a small hard piece of poop i was able to pull out was blocking so i fogured that was it and we were ok. tried stimulating
nothing. so i gave her the enema and a whole lot of sulphur orangs poo came out. shes been eating find since. but no poo since. she pushes and nothing. today i started a bit of pedyialite in her bottles as well and did another enema. another 3-4 inches of sulphur orange poo.

ive read somewhere that the color is sometimes normal with kmr fed kittens? but how can i get her on track with the pooing? please help!

ANSWER: Hi Kristen,

You need to get more water in her. The Pedialyte should help. I'm attaching my recipe for Kitty Glop. It's great for feeding little ones. Here are a few links that give great info. What are you using for an enema? Hope you aren't using anything that is for humans or babies. You can cause major harm to the kitten using human products. That color is not normal. Normal kitten poo is brown. There is something not right with the kit. I would suggest a visit to the vet. Read these links. They will also help.

KITTY GLOP

INGREDIENTS:
1 can goat milk or evaporated milk, not sweetened condensed. Walmart carries canned goat milk near the evaporated milk
2 tbsp. plain yogurt, not low or non fat. Plain Greek Yogurt is best.
2 tbsp. mayonnaise ,real not light or No-Fat
1 tbs. Karo Syrup light
1 pkg. Knox unflavored gelatin
1 egg yolk beaten
1 cup Pedialyte, unflavored
1- 2 jars Stage One Baby food, chicken or turkey
1 can Kitten food, same flavor as baby food

INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix milk, yogurt, mayonnaise, baby food, kitten food and syrup together well. Bring 1 cup pedialyte to boil and mix in Knox gelatin. Set aside. Mix egg yolk with small amount of milk mixture and beat well.

Add gelatin and pedialyte mix to milk mixture and beat well. Add in egg yolk mixture and beat well. Remember to not use egg substitute and keep egg white to a minimum.

Using a blender works really good for mixing everything together.

Pour into bowl with cover and set in refrigerator. Glop will last for two weeks covered in refrigerator. Try freezing the mixture in ice cube trays and store the cubes in the freezer. Thaw as many as needed.
Always warm glop to room temperature , milk form, or a little warmer, before feeding.

QUESTION: i was told to use just a bit of warm water and a small drop of dish soap. which is when the 3-4 inches of poo came out. her pee is almost clear. i was afraid of giving her too much more water. im going to take her to he vet as soon as i can get a ride.

Answer
Hi Kristen,

Hope all is well with your little one. I'm glad you used the soap and water. That is the best to use on a little one. What did the vet find? Hopefully it was something as simple as diluting the formula. Let me know. Good luck and take care.
