Cat making sounds

Question
HI,

I have a girl cat which is about a year and a half old. When I'm in the shower, she comes and sits and waits on the bathmat outside the shower for me, crouched on the ground. When I come out she miaows louder than normal, rubs herself against my legs sometimes and even tries to lick the water from my legs...it is the same sounding "miaows" all the time, only when I get out of the shower. I assume because they are the same sounds every time, she is trying to talk to me and tell me the same thing. Do you have any idea what she could be saying?

Answer
Laura,

If your female cat is not spayed, she could be in season (but I doubt it).

Let's assume she is spayed.  Truthfully, I have no idea what she is saying to you.  Cats tend to miaow only to people and kittens. For some reason she loves to show you lots of affection and mark you when you come out of the shower.  Maybe she is saying "This human is mine!"  I really have no idea and can only speculate.  When cats rub up against things (or people), they are marking them with scent glands near their mouths and foreheads.

Sorry, I could not give you a clearer answer.

Best regards... Norm.
