JUST MOVED IN 2 12 YEAR OLD FEMALES WITH 1 6 YEAR OLD MALE

Question
Karen:  My fiance just moved in with me and brought her two 12 year old sister cats with her.  I have a 6 year old male.  For the first 5 days we kept them behind doors and now we let them all out when we are home and keep them locked up during the day, the girls upstairs and the bouy downstairs.  One of the females makes a lot of noise at the male but doesnt lunge or attack.  the other one is very aggresive with him.  I feel so bad for him b/c she keeps trying to fight him.  Keep in mind the male is about 9 pounds bigger than the females.  When she attacks he doesnt defend himself he preety much just sits there.  Is there any tricks or trades we can do to make this a more comfortable process.  My male cat Morpheus has been such a  great companion to me and i feel so bad for him.  Please help if you can.

Answer
Hi Andrew,

It is going to take time for them to settle the dominance and territory issues. You can try a product called Feliway. It acts like a kitty tranquilizer. You spray it around the room.
Try taking a cloth and rubbing the female first then the male to transfer her scent to him. You can try the separating again but this time before letting all out together, switch them to each others areas first. This will allow them to get used to each others scent. Good luck and let me know if this helps.

Ciao,, Karen
