I think my cat is in labor

15:44:00

Question
Last night at about 1:30am I picked my cat up who is due between July 1 and July 4 from the time she mated. When i picked her up this fluid came out of her and all over me. It did not smell like urine. What could it have been? I don't know what it looked like because it was all over me. Then today I was watching her because this is her first litter and I am a little worried about her. Her babies for the first time started moving around like crazy and it was the first time I could fell them move, and see them. Then for only a little bit her upper back by her spine kept moving up and down. Does this mean that she is in early labor? Do the babies slow down with movement right before they come or do they keep going crazy. I know she is do because I found a chart from the time she mated, and nipples got pink to her due date. She really wont walk far and only eating very little bit of food, also for the first time she went a checked out the bed I made her. What are the sign of her being in labor? Also I almost forgot that she keep coming by me, and will not leave me alone.

Answer
Kristel,

I am sorry I could not get to this sooner, but I was out of town for the fourth of July weekend.

The fluid she had all over you was, most probably, her water breaking.

It sounds to me as if she has all the signs of being ready to go into labor and deliver her kittens.  Usually, the water breaking precedes the onset of birth by minutes or hours.

By now, she should have been having her kittens.  If not, you might take her to your vet to be sure.

Please let me know what has been happening.

Good luck and best regards... Norm.
