habit vs. issue

My wife and I have 2 cats, 2yrs and 1 1/2yrs old.  We recently bought a dog and it's taken it's toll on the 2yr old.  She's started pooping and peeing on carpeting and not in either of the 2 litter boxes we have in our house.  My wife is at her wits end cleaning up after her, but there is no way we'd give up our baby.  I've heard a lot of the same advice (i.e. keep her confined with the box, keep the box clean, etc.).  Her temperment seems fine and she's getting used to the dog, but she won't stop this habit!  Is there any other advice you could give?  Thanks for your time.

My suggestion is to only let your dog go in certain areas of your home, so the cat has a place away from the dog.  Also- to avoid the cat associating past elimination sites as her new litterbox, always clean the area with a disfinfectant solution and follow uyp by dabbing some vinegar on the site to eliminate the last rraces of odor.
