Is my kitty in pain? continuous seizures.

Question
My 3 month old kitten has been having pretty bad seizures. They started mild, and now they seem to be getting much worse. He twitches, lays on side, blank stare, White foam from mouth, urinating. It's getting worse and worse as the days go by. It seemed to get better when we started letting him eat as much as he wanted to, which lasted for about a week that he was ok, me and my boyfriend both work during the day so we are not sure if he was having them during the day but he was having them 2 x's a day if not more. So he seemed better for almost a week and then last night he had 3 seizures during the night and then today it's been about 6 times and it's 11 at night. Can you please tell me if he is in pain? I would really like to know if he is so I can try and figure out if i can help or not. We've had him at the vet, they tested him for AIDS/Lukemia, he came up negative, he also had a rabie and distemper shot, the vet also gave us a dewormer, which came in 3 shots of liquid that he has to take every 2 weeks. Today was his 2nd dose. I've never seen him like this, we just got done going through another seizure in the time of me writing this. Also this time he pooped, he has never pooped while having a seizure, only the one that just happened. That's about 7-8 x's now in just tonight alone. This is really taking a toll on us, it's hard not to cry, if you could please help me and tell me if my poor little guy is in pain, i do NOT want him to keep going through this if he is in pain.
i would really appreciate it.
By the way i am going to the next step of tests w/ the vet, total costs of tests come out to be approx. $300.00, the vet says if these tests come out negative, the next step would be to take him for a MRI or CAT SCAN, which to be perfectly honest, i don't have the money to do that. When we 1st got him, he was actually from a litter of baby kitties outside our house, he was not w/ the other kittens or the mother he was stuck under the neighbors shed for approx 2 days w/ no mom or anything, the only reason we found him is because he cried and we just happened to hear him, He was so much smaller than his brothers/sisters. I thought at that time he wasn't going to make it. I started to bottle feed him and nurse him to health, it worked, everything seemed just fine, then all of a sudden he just started having these spasms, i did video tape the one seizure and i brought to the vet to show him, he did verify that he was having a seizure for sure. We are going to try to get him into the vet for these other tests on Monday ASAP.
If anyone has any information that could help me i would really appreciate it, Please no jokes... this is really killing me inside, i love this little guy.
thanks.

Answer
Hi Tiffany,

I'm sorry for your kit's troubles. When a cat has seizures they do not feel any pain. They are unaware of anything when they have the seizure. And when they come out of it they may be disoriented. Here's 2 links that gives a good info on cat seizures.

I would stop the dewormer. Keep him safe when he has a seizure. The one thing that stands out in your post is how he seemed better when he ate good. The blood work should show if he has a deficiency that is causing the seizures. And if that is the case here's another link about feeding him the right stuff.

Hopefully your vet will find out what is causing this. You may also want to ask your vet after the blood work comes back if you can start him on anti seizure medicine right away. Good luck and let me know what happens.
