Question
I had my cat for about tow or three months he was just a palm kitten, my son found him under our car tire when winter time hit, and I my two questions. He tends to meow at times and I have heard that maybe its time to feed him, but yet he still does it. I pick him up and rib his head , for a moment he stops ,then jumps out of my arms and starts again. I then pick him up again and talk to him and ask him whats wrong, I don't speak cat so I don't know. Is it something that I am doing, is it attention food or a internal problem I don't know about. I want to take him to the vet to get checked out, get his shots, and get registered but I am scared that he might run away in the summertime. I really do not want to loose him but if he runs it's hard to catch them...My next question is that sometimes when company comes over, he tends to jump on the kitchen table and that a an no no and may get in their face and that startles some cause their just learning that we have a cat. He might even get to the point and get really freaked out and shoot from one spot to the next, thats a little weird? Is he ok or just being a growing kitten. He might even eat my floor plants, aloe Vera also why is that.

Answer
S.,

It sounds to me like your kitten has figured out that if he meows attention will follow, which is okay provided that he doesn't start looking for attention loudly at 3 am. If your kitty normally lives indoors a cat carrier should help to avoid losing your kitten outside. A squirt bottle filled with water (like the ones used for misting plants) should help your kitty to understand that you do not want him up on the table. The freaking out that you describe is what we call "spaz hour" in our house...It is perfectly normal for a cat to decide suddenly that it is time to tear around the house like a locomotive and then flop down and go to sleep in the sun or on the couch. The eating of plants is something most cats will do. I think it is just because they enjoy doing it. I am not sure if Aloe is the best thing for kitty to be eating, so you may want to check with your vet. I hope that I was able to offer some helpful hints. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me again. Enjoy your little kitten, it sounds like he keeps you on your toes!
