Question
Hello,
I have 4 cats. 2 of them have these small tan seed like things that come out of there butt. I cant afford to take them to a vet and I've called a few offices but the vet tells me he needs to see them. I cant find any info on any thing like this. I know you said no health questions but I thought if you didnt know what it was you could ask your vet.
Thank you!!!

Answer
Tammy,

It may be some sort of parasite that your cats have in which case they do need to see a vet. If there is any sort of parasite infestation happening it could jeopardize the health of all of your cats, that is also true of infections or viruses. Another concern that I have is that the cats may have eaten something that they shouldn't have and the only way to find that out is to do a little bit of detective work and see if you can find anything that the cats could have gotten into. In this case, I really do think that it may be a parasite issue, so the sooner that you can either get them to the vet on your own or find out about resources that exist in your area that you may be able to access the better. I wouldn't recommend that you use any of the over the counter parasite remedies that are sold in pet stores, unfortunately the handling of over the counter pet medications is not as closely monitored as the prescription ones and quality and handling can vary significantly from batch to batch and in some cases even from store to store. I really wish I could offer more, but in this case you really do need to take them to see a vet. I am not sure where you are writing from, but in some areas they have programs where folks on limited incomes are given free vet treatment paid for by the SPCA so that the animals are cared for properly and the owners get to keep the animals that they love. In many places there is also a free spay and neuter service to folks that have limited finances so this may be something to consider so that you don't end up becoming overwhelmed with kittens and behaviors like urinating outside the box to mark territory. I really do wish that I could be of more help, but this is one for a vet. Hopefully this information was helpful.
