After cat has left the house

We just had to put our sweet cat to sleep because she had FIP.  My question how long do we need to wait before we bring in another kitten?

In my opinion (and remember I am not a vet) that FIP is a disease of the immune system.  FIP is caused because the cat's immune system was not strong enough to fight off a nasty mutation of the Feline Enteric Corona Virus.  A cat with a normally strong immune system will have no trouble fighting off these corona virus mutations.  Feline Coronaviruses are all over the place and cats often have to deal with them.  Some shelter cats may have immune system problems which could lead to FIP.  So, I feel that a kitten with a normal immune system could come into your house now.
