How can I tell if she is pregnant?

16:05:14

Question
I have noticed our new rescued 4 and a half month old kitten has gotten a big tummy in the past 3 weeks since her arrival.  She has a rounded belly.  I think I hear constant movement inside of her.  I am guessing she must have come to us pregnant.  Is there a test to make sure?

Answer
Maria,

Nipples swell and become pinker in color. That is the first sign. She will have an increased appetite. She may have morning sickness (just like humans). And around the 5th week her tummy starts to grow. They are pregnant for 60 to 67 days or approximately nine weeks.

A vet checkup can probably tell for sure. And if she is you may want to get her spayed right now before she gets too far along. Or have an abortion at anytime during the pregnancy.

Your rescued kitten may also have been undernourished, and since she has been eating more, her tummy is growing. It is also possible she has worms.

I would take her to the vet for a checkup. And if you don't want or need kittens have her fixed.
