QuestionMy parents' cat gave birth about two weeks ago, but now the question is this...how soon after giving birth can she be in heat again? I know they are wanting to get her fixed, but I would like to give them a time frame.
AnswerStephanie,
Often, there is a "lactation" heat when the kittens are 4-6 weeks. Since kittens can be weaned at 4-5 weeks of age, she can and should be fixed a week or so after the kittens are weaned. Furthermore, she would not be allowed out as she could come into season at any time <sigh>!!!!!
