persian cat in labor

Question
How long is too long for a persian to be in labor? She started panting around 11am today and now she is pushing but hasn't produced any kittens.  The father is a siamese cat. She has a little dischage around her vaginal area but that is it. Thanks so much for your help,  Kim

Answer
Kim,

This momma should see a vet immediately in order to have the best possible chance of the kittens surviving. The babies will likely have to be delivered by caesarian section as persian cats often have difficulty delivering their babies vaginally. The sooner you get mom to the vet the better the outcome will be in terms of the kittens. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me again - I'm more than happy to help in any way that I can.

Kind regards,

Ali
