cat with trauma to tail pulling

Question
Good day to you. Please can you advise, if a cat (feral found) has damaged nerves from a tail trauma (mentioned by the vet) is there a way to treat the cat with natural nutrients?  We believe the cat is constipated, if there is damage is this permanent i.e. could it be healed in time on its own? I thank you for your feed back; and i do understand this could be a medical question!

Answer
Hi Janis,

This is a tough one to answer. I can help somewhat. First off I would keep him a large dog crate for a week or so.This will allow you to monitor his progress and will prevent further damage to his tail. The constipation is most likely from the nerve damage. You need to give the cat hairball medicine to help him with his stools. He might need a tail amputation to take help with his problem. And you need to make sure he is urinating. Tail nerve damage can affect this. Your vet should be able to provide you with some medicines to help with the cat's recovery.

Next, this is the hard advice to give. If he is a feral cat and you are unable to provide care for him then the humane thing to do would be to euthanise the cat. He will suffer for some time before succumbing to his injuries. And you shouldn't allow the cat to suffer needlessly.

I am attaching some links for you that have some good info about nerve damage. Hope this helps. Good luck and take care.
