cat does not leave chair

Question
hi there,
this is a stupid question, but important for me. I have this adorable  male cat who is a sucker for this one chair in my house. if he wants to sit, he sits only on that chair. he eats chicken pieces by taking them out of the bowl and taking it to his chair. the only time he leaves the chair is when he wants to use the litterbox and when he wants to play. if someone in my family or my other cat dares to sit on his chair, he meows and meaows. if we don't pay any attention, he sits on our laps only in that chair and no where else. why does he do it?

Answer
Sakshi,

I wish I could give you a good answer.  Truly, I am stumped.  For some reason this cat has developed a fondness for this particular chair and considers it his private territory where he is safe from all possible dangers.

It may be that he and the other cat have come to an understanding about his rights to this particular chair.

Of course all the above is speculation and just reinforces all theories about how inscrutible cats are!!!!!

Just revel in the fact that this cat has deveoped such an unusual idiosyncracy.  As for the question being stupid, no, it is not!  After all, I cannot answer this question to my satisfaction.

Best regards... Norm
