Question
I have asked you a few things in the past my cat was having trouble with his hind leg, I had x-rays and found out he has a dislocated knee cap. now he doesn't seem to limp as much I thought maybe it was healing. Now it seems like sometimes when he walks he holds out his hip, and walks weird. Is that normal or should I get yet another opinion? I am at a loss, and dont know what to do, do I wait and see what happens or to I get it checked again? Thank You

Answer
My cat with the loose knee caps used to do the same thing.  The vets explained he was stretching his leg to try to get the knee cap to slip back into its normal position.

Because it recurrs, I'd be suspicious that maybe this is a congenital thing instead of related to an injury, maybe caused by loose ligaments.  And when you have this in one area, it makes it likely there are other areas effected.  Maybe the hip itself IS having problems.

I think whether you should get another vet opinion should depend on how often this is happening and if he appears to be in pain when it happens.  Any more often than once a month or so, or if it ever appears painful, I'd get back to the vet.  It may be time for them to refer you to an orthopedist.  Though more expensive initially, it will save you money on futile repeat vet appointments that result in no change.
